These new neutral colours from the 2020 paint collection by Jotun Lady, leaves me longing for cosy blanket days. Invoking balance and tranquillity, these soft neutral paints promote a soothing atmosphere designed to give clarity and calm in a changing world. The neutral aesthetics really appeal to me.
These gorgeous textured mineral paints which include the new addition of ‘Belgian Brown’ play on the nuances of light, so important in Scandinavian homes where the days are so much shorter in the winter months. The shades can be used seamlessly together working on a tonal scheme – you could play with using a deeper colour inside an alcove or on the inside of a doorway for a subtle feature.
Minimal interiors may have a reputation for being cold but these images styled by Kirsten Visdal are far from it. Styled with pieces from independent designers and well-loved Nordic brands, Autumnal shades like ‘Adventure’, ‘Humble Yellow’ and ‘Lively Red’ provide an unexpectedly warming backdrop to contemporary settings. These colours take centre stage in a homely, pared-back space, giving the mind room to breathe. See more from the styling on the Jotun Lady inspiration journal.
Are you feeling ready to welcome Autumn yet? I’m so inspired to get painting I’m already thinking of ways to introduce some of these subtle neutral colours into my home! But where to start? The bedroom or the living room? Those are the two rooms at the top of my list.
