Kitchen trend guide 2018 PURE by Howdens

3/10/2018

In collaboration with Howdens, I want to share this beautiful kitchen trend guide with you. I was asked to choose my favourite trend from the guide and I’ve chosen PURE. There are six trends in total; Refined, Natural, Monochrome, Pure, Cultural and Individualistic. As a black and white lover, you probably would image that I would choose Monochrome, but the trend PURE had some nice materials that I love.

The trend PURE has a lot of inspiration from Scandinavian design. Neutral colours is a great place to start when you’re looking for calm. My kitchen is all white and I add neutral colours to it. I think it works really well.

Organic materials, neutral colours and matt finishes combine for a peaceful, pared back look, turning the kitchen into a safe haven from modern life. – Howdens

With shades of white and grey, this trend is all about tranquillity. As you will know,

I’m a plant lover, so adding a few green plants and herbs to this trend is a must. I have numerous Chinese money plants on my kitchen window sill. They seem to love it there. This trend is all about bringing the outside in. Materials for this trend are wood and stone. Something that’s rooted in Scandinavian design, namely natural products.

Concrete is also something I’ve loved for years and it’s very much a part of this trend too. Why not add accessories like in the picture below or go for a concrete look floor? In my own kitchen I have concrete plant pots.

Other accessories that would work well are marble and wood. I have a variety of chopping boards and find them both useful in the kitchen as well as decorative pieces. In fact, some I only use as decorations. Wooden trays and bowls add a bit of texture and are interesting, tactile additions to a worktop.

Like I mentioned in my last post, I love waffle towels. This is something I would add in the kitchen too. Waffle tea towels in neutral colours and a linen table cloth for a nice and cosy Scandi feel.
