Empty desks

7/01/2013

I’m having a bad start to the week with several things cancelled.. Frustrating, but I’ve got lots of things to get on with. It’s looking more and more empty here as we’re selling furniture and packing.
Soon my office space will look as empty as this (but not nearly as cool).

This is the owner Peter Baker’s statement:

I kept it like this for as long as I could before moving more stuff in. It was the most productive time yet.
Do you think that’s true? Do you work better when you have less distractions around you?
I’m not sure an empty desk makes me more productive though. I like my little things, but I like the idea of it.

I completely agree. I didn't realize how much of a distraction everything was until I emptied my desk (and house) of everything but the very basics. I get SO much more done now.

I posted about it here, if you're interested. http://www.littlevictorian.com/2013/05/simplifying-another-post-with.html
