When I was having one of my ‘falling down a rabbit hole’ Pinterest moments, I came across a brilliant contemporary design and lifestyle boutique, Bombinate. Bombinate create the most beautiful minimalist home accessories, homeware, furniture, menswear and more.

Founded by two brothers with a love of travel, Bombinate is so-called referring to the sound made by bees, representing the buzz of a community. Inspired by some of their experiences driving the old Silk Road. Their mission became to discover the new generation of European artisans known for creating high quality clothing, furniture and lifestyle goods. At first glance, the selection of beautifully designed pieces was enough to grab my attention. But delving deeper, I learned that Bombinate has very specific criteria for choosing their home and lifestyle products.

Rightfully so, designers and artisans can only be considered for Bombinate if their pieces are made to last and made sustainably. Every item needs to have a clear and traceable story of who made it and a good reason as to why it was made.

“We only work with brands who place as much importance on process and provenance as we do. So it’s important we know exactly how each piece is made, and who made it.”

Contemporary Minimal Design Edit

I thought it only right to create my own edit from the Bombinate collection, focusing as always on contemporary, minimal home accessories. There’s furniture designed by the Copenhagen studio We Do Wood who produce all their designs in a combination of bamboo and FSC certified woods. I particularly love their Nomad chair with its natural canvas seat and leather strap arms.

In fact, the Nomad chair reminds me about the Canvas chair, that I recently styled in my home.

A touch of black is so important to an interior. Nooma’s black Oly stool is a versatile piece that can also be used as a side table. Its base is made from aluminium with an FSC certified veneer top.

For shape and texture, I’ve chosen an abstract print from one of my favourite Danish wall art brands – Atelier CPH. This tone on tone layered paper collage print is an ideal way of adding texture to a beige toned interiors. I think this would be perfect in my office.

Add Sculptures to Shelves for Styling

Of course, no shelf should be without an eye-catching sculpture to draw the eye. The Siment Water Tower by Tiipoi has a brutalist feel to it and has space for a small plant pot in the top – it’s crying out for a trailing houseplant.

And I think by now you know how obsessed I am with lighting design. The Spanish heritage brand Santa & Cole make some truly beautiful lamps. I would love to add the TMM floor lamp to my collection. It has a simple, modernist style with an adjustable height lamp shade. Great for a reading lamp or just a warm and inviting addition to the living room.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you will have seen my Cestota Table Lamp from Santa & Cole a few times already. I love the design.
